Week 9

Wow week 9 already, one more week and it will be production!
Here are a few reminders for our busy week ahead.


Production:
  • We will be practising throughout the week but our full whole school dress rehearsal is on Friday morning. All students from Kereru will need to wear a plain Bright fluro coloured t-shirt and black bottoms. Could these please come to school in a named plastic bag by Tuesday. Any issues with the clothing items please let me know. 
  • We are still on the lookout for props that represent the sunny Nelson
Student-led Inquiry:
  • The senior students Mihi Whakatau/sharing of their inquiry learning will be on Tuesday afternoon from 1:30-2:30pm - you are more than welcome to come along at this time.
Calendar Art:
  • Calendar art orders are due by the end of this week - calendar art can be viewed in Ruma Kereru and Kakariki in a red clear file 
Year 6 CMS Orientation forms:
  • Year 6 parents - a reminder to please return the Cambridge Middle School orientation day forms. The students attending CMS will visit on Tuesday of week 10, (26/9)
  • A reminder that transport is not arranged by the school on this occasion.
  • CMS enrolment forms are now due. Any overdue forms are to be dropped off at CMS ASAP, please.

Lily's Worlds Experience

Lily has just returned from racing at the BMX World Champs held in Rockhill, SC, USA. With over 3500 competitors from 40 countries this year was the biggest World Champs ever held. Conditions were very hot and humid, several times practice was delayed by the intense thunderstorms when everybody had to evacuate the grounds to vehicles and buildings and wait for the all clear! Fortunately, race days were unaffected.  Lily had a great day of racing, winning her 3 motos and transferring through the knockout rounds of 1/8, 1/4 and semi finals all the way to the Main (final), a huge achievement! Lily had a great start in her final and came out of the first corner in 4th, at the end of the 2nd straight she tangled with a USA rider and crashed. With her never give up attitude she got back on her bike and finished the race in 8th place.   The Worlds experience is a unique opportunity to represent NZ as an age group representative and enjoy being with the team.
