An old lady's life As her old wrinkles, stretch across her face like an elastic band, dead inside. Her pure blue eyes can tell you one million ancient stories of her younger life. Her brown lips sink in like someone falling into a deep navy ocean and never coming back. By Holly

Murdoch's Brush Bot Writing

The Brush Bot “Buzz, buzz, vvv!” The robot rumbles as it springs to life. “Hooray!” I say as the bristly brush bot ventures around its most recently found landscape. Nate and I beam with thorough excitement at the bobbly invention like dogs meeting a new friend. The dry stalks of the brush slip along the smooth surface of the table slowly maneuvering along. I am very curious to where the brush bot unknown destination will be… PLONK! It topples over like Jenga “No!” I shout as my veins nearly burst with frustration. And of course after all of this we have to do it again, “AHH!!”. Written by Murdoch

Carter's Brush Bot Writing

Brush Bot Tuesday 29th of August Today in our class we had to create things called brush bots and they can somehow make masterpieces of art pffff as if. But once we got all our resources and made it, it was making squiggles of blue, yellow, red, and green paint. For the brush bot it's probably having the time of its life slip'n'sliding all over the piece of paper. The end result ehh not as me and kaden thought it would turn out, but at least it was a really fun thing to make . When we tried to pick it up, it's vibration wasn't as effective as it was before, we washed it and destroyed it! By Carter

The explorers then set up a sales area to sell their creations at morning tea, making $84.00 - We also had the privilege of having Sarah, an Entomologist, come and speak with us about her job and the exciting inquiries she does. The class was buzzing and very enthusiastic about having an expert provide experiment suggestions to support their inquiry.

Lily's Worlds Experience

Image
Lily has just returned from racing at the BMX World Champs held in Rockhill, SC, USA. With over 3500 competitors from 40 countries this year was the biggest World Champs ever held. Conditions were very hot and humid, several times practice was delayed by the intense thunderstorms when everybody had to evacuate the grounds to vehicles and buildings and wait for the all clear! Fortunately, race days were unaffected.  Lily had a great day of racing, winning her 3 motos and transferring through the knockout rounds of 1/8, 1/4 and semi finals all the way to the Main (final), a huge achievement! Lily had a great start in her final and came out of the first corner in 4th, at the end of the 2nd straight she tangled with a USA rider and crashed. With her never give up attitude she got back on her bike and finished the race in 8th place.   The Worlds experience is a unique opportunity to represent NZ as an age group representative and enjoy being with the team.
