Ag Day Notice

SCARECROW COMPETITION We are introducing a new Ag Day competition open to all Goodwood Explorers-the ‘Make a Scarecrow Competition’. The children construct their scarecrow during the school holidays and bring it to school on the first Monday back. They register their entry at the school office and the scarecrow will be judged and displayed on Ag Day. MYSTERY BOTTLE We would like each school family to donate a bottle of something, wrapped up so that the contents remain a mystery. These will be sold during the week leading up to Ag Day and on the day so please bring your bottle into the school office before the end of this term. Thank you for supporting this fundraising initiative. CAFÉ There will be a number of guests visiting our school on Ag Day so we will be selling morning tea and lunc

Week 9 update

Afternoon All Looking ahead to week 9, on Tuesday 19th the senior school has their Mihi Whakatau (sharing of their student led inquiries). This will be from 1:30-2:30pm. Students have been working hard on researching their big questions this term which are centred around our school wide focus of 'Significance'. Please note that this year the Mihi Wahakatau does not have the same emphasis as it has had in previous years, with many homerooms and students having shared their learning in different ways throughout the term. This is because our inquiry sharing as a school is also linked to the sharing and presentation of our whole school production in Week 10. You are of course still very welcome to come in on Tues afternoon (in week 9) and see what our excited and hard working explorers have been up to.

Memories from today...

Spring has Sprung for Brooke

Image
As the flower gleams and glows, it spreads its nectar across the yellow horizon. It lights up the garden with its green surroundings. The leaves shine and shimmer in the light, as the leave's veins spread like a disease from the sides, top and bottom. With little bulbs that are oval in a blanket of green bloom. They grow hair like thorns. Author: Brooke

Spring Writing - AJ

Image
I believe we got the best photo ever, the piercing orange, yellow and black, sunny flower.  We could not look away from the beautifully placed flower. The water drips slowly like the rain drooling from the sky. The flower slowly starting to die. I was sad as it got darker and darker until it was as dark as a shadow, red veins fade. As the black inner warps the outside got uglier and uglier and uglier until I did not want to look at it as it started to look like it was sad. We started to head back to the classroom disappointed as I lost all hope for the formerly beautiful flower. We went back to our other learning. The flower was soon forgotten by us.

Old Lady Description

Old Lady Description Written By Melissa The ladies speckled blue eyes are pleading for help. Long heavy clothes droop down, forcing her to lean to a side. Her face is as shriveled as a dry raisin. Her faded lips look like they have been stuck together with glue. The joy in the children's faces digs hope into her worried eyes. Darkness folds over her as the wind pulls strands of hair out of her scarf. Night, has come and families are making their way into their warm, cozy homes. She folds herself up in her jackets and leans against the building wall. The lady looks away, closes her eyes and goes to sleep.

Spring Writing - By Heidi

Spring writing It is spring the flowers are blooming. The sun is shining bright. There are all sorts of different  colors like white, pike, purple, orange and green. The flowers are slowly opening in the sun light morning. The bees are pollinating the soft wave flowers. The dirt is as brown as a tree stump.

The Spring Flower - Written By Oliver O

The spring flower Flowers blooming into action as if they were racing to get the most sunlight. Buds opening and waiting for the pollination to begin, bzzzzz dozens of bees start pollinating speeding to any flower they could get to. Flow ers that grow on trees have been crowded by bees and now it is time for them to move to the ground and begin more pollination. The bees have now finished and are moving on to new areas and the ground is as bright and colourful as a rainbow and so are the trees this is spring.

Spring poetry - Written By Chiara

Blossoms, green leaves sway in the spring breeze, blue skies like to rise. Delicate white chocolate like petals, dance down to the luscious green grass. Springs freshness spreads through the air. Pollen everywhere. Yellow sprinkles all over the flower. Buds just about to bloom. Flowers as soft as silk. SPRING IS HERE!!!!

Spring Poetry - Katie

Yellow and red and orange All bursts out at me like it is on fire. It  is escaping from under the plants.

Spring is here. Delicate petals gracefully land onto the luscious green grass. A cool Springs breeze spreads through the air. Buds are about to bloom and bumble bees collect pollen. Light blue sky surrounds the blossom trees creating a beautiful scene.
